Fashion is ready to restart, and this reboot has a new rhythm for the designer Giorgio Armani, as he had already announced in his open letter in early April (to deepen it read the article Seasonality and Fashion: the Italian slow fashion aims at a responsible consumption). Armani restarts putting Italy at the center and to pay homage to the country he moves the Armani Privé fashion show from Paris to Milan. The show will take place in January 2021 at Palazzo Orsini, the historical headquarter in Borgonuovo street.
Regarding the prêt-à-porter collections, Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani man and woman, they will not be presented in July during the Milan Digital Fashion Week organized by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion. The designer will present his collections in September 2020 in Milan and in ways still to be defined.
In his open letter, Armani has also highlighted the absurdity of the fashion calendar: linen dresses in the shops in the middle of winter and alpaca coats in summer. The designer does not fail his word and makes an haute couture collection with no season. The show will present items that are suitable for winter and lighter garments for summer. In this way, Armani once again argues his thesis of a return to authenticity and the need of time to realize luxury.
From June 2020, the Armani tailoring services will start again and a wide choice of models, new or from past seasons, will be available for the clients that can decide to modify them according to the fabrics and their variations. To respect the social distancing, the cloths will be shown as usual by appointment only.
We will keep the eyes on the king of fashion to discover what he has in store for us.
