One does not always approve of their government’s decisions. It’s becoming increasigly hard to ignore the many injustices or crimes against humanity that happen every day on this planet. People care (thankfully) and more movies are being made every year to denounce a problem or support a humanitarian cause. Products such as Romanzo Criminale, Milk or Diaz- don’t clean up the blood are just a few examples. Such movies capture a momentous event of our history. If you feel like getting political (or already are), you might enjoy these titles:
An avarage little man (1977) by Mario Monicelli
Based on Vincenzo Cerami’s book of the same name, Monicelli’s movie points its finger against the Italian bourgeoisie of the 60’s, capable of bullying a humble employee into humiliating compromises only to ensure his son will land a better job. That was the beginning of our moral decay, greed over values.
Suburra (2015) by Stefano Sollima
This movie was directed by the same genius behind Gomorrah Tv series, Vincenzo Sollima, who brings his neo-noir approach to this feature that exposes and harhly denounces corrupted politicians involved with Mafia – or whatever else might bring them more money and power, ultimately damaging the unknowing citizens. Suburra’s Italy is a place where nothing legal happens and the government either ignores or joins in the traffics.
